ICE new fan

Hey guys, I am looking to put a new fan in my ICE unit to replace the Sunon one that is just not up to par. I have an SK83G and when I was looking at the current fan I noticed that it is surprisingly thin. If I am going to get a replacement does it have to be 80x80x15 or can it be 80x80x25?
 
i highly doubt it is slim.. mine was just a standard size one.. i am not sure wht that means.. but i think 25mm.. and 32mm is thick.. everyone reccomended panaflo.. i got one.. and i think its still too loud.. haha.. i don't know what is loud.. it annoys me.. i just ignore it now...

any of those should be fine.. 80 x80x25.. unless the sk83g is wierd.. which i am not sure of.. i have an sn41g2v2
 
the SK83G is wierd and has an odd shape for the heatsink which makes a 25mm fan impossible to fit. I have a Zalman 80mm slim fan but it doesn't seem to work any better really. Does anyone know any better 15mm fans?
 
I too have owned a SK83G < I sold it last week> I searched and could not find a fan that was 80x15mm and worked better than the stock, however mine cooled just fine. It kept tempatures in the low to mid 40's at idle.

i replaced mine with a generic quad led fan and it works good and was quietier than the one that came with it
 
do you have an SK83G? Cuz I looked up a fan like that and its 80x80x25 mm which wont fit in my case.
 
Well You have V3 cooling unit. Radiator is curved and has more surface then square one. It's form makes ai coming thru it queter. Alos that stock thin fan has more impeller blades then normal fans and blade form is also advanced so it's acctualy quiet for amount of air that can move. Only thing is that You have to sett in BIOS how fast He works and with that also how much noise it makes. I doo not know any slim 80 mili fan with ball bearings that can move 50 CFM.
Shuttle cooling funktions on underpreasure made by ICE fan. Hence intake is not Fan assited. Hence air has to come thru little holes on cover and on bottom. That makes noise. Allready Cover with Mash makes less noise then standard cover and improves cooling to.
Though that ICE fan has to fight front and back preasure.On intake side it has under preasure cause it sucks air out of box where intakes are pretty small. On exhaust side it fights against radiator and grill. Hence It makes more noise casue it works under hard conditions. That's why if You cut out grill (honeycomb grill on back of a case) and use stanfard fan fingerguard it will result in less noise made on exhaust and made by fan. It will also result in more airflow at same time. More airflow better cooling.

I have an 83G and Ive found that you can just screw a fan to the outside of the Ice "box" (but inside shuttle case) as long as your cdrom is short. I actually have a 92mm panaflo cooling my Ice inside the shuttle.

You can also bend those mounting places where You screw Your fan. Then just stick fan inside and gleu it on side with silicon kit gun so that it hangs mostly in ICE box and just bit on outside of ICE box.

You can also use secondary fan keeping stock fan where it is and adding fan on inside of Shuttle but on outside of ICe box like Pherret did . Slim fan if place is a problem. Stacking fans increase airspeed and that's goof when cooling high density radiator like one used for ICE. It increases moise to.
If You are using two same size fan they have to work with same speed hence both need to be regulated with same voltage.
There is a option to install smaller flat fan on grill inside to.Like flat 60 mili or 70 mili (60 for 80mili ICE and 70 mili for 92 mili ICE) allows You to use low noise fan and not regulated fans. You can still use smart or low setting of main fan. Soon as the main fan accelerates it sucks air more arround little fan. When at low rpms it makes more airspeed casue air is allready accelerated from little fan, resulting in higher efficiency.

I both disagree and agree.

Fan stacking increases pressure tollerence, not air speed for the same flow cross section. And yes, that may help push air through a dense pack of fins.

If the single fan is not "struggling" much to push air through the radiator, then little will be gained by stacking.
 
Well it does specialy when used with slow speeds.
Try it out You will see :)
