IC7 max3 O/C /disk boot failure!?!?!?!

ok ive had my MAX 3 for about a month now. plenty of time to prepare for overclocking right?
i go into bios, soft menu then user define my processor.
i set my FSB to 210(modest) and f10.
my comuter post, goes through about 3 screens of stuff....and on the screen before the windows logo comes on this message show up.....DISK BOOT FAILURE>>>>INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER!
does anybody know what the hell this means? ive set my boot sequence to floppy, HD, DVD drive. ive pit the windows boot disk in the floppy drive....no workie. has anyone else had this problem? ive got the latest bios (1.4) and have talked to a few of my buds online and noone knows wassup. this also happens when i try to use the game accelerator. any MAX 3 owners out there who have whipped this problem PLEEEASE help me out!
i cant get ABIT online to ask them so im hoping you guys might can throw me a frekin bone.

Have you locked your AGP/PCI at 33/66MHz? (The Fixed Option In the Bios). SATA Hard drives are very intolerant to changes in PCI speed.
 
yea, my AGP/PCI is locked. im hoping my HD isnt corrupted. how sure are you on that? thanks for the input.
 
I had the same thing happen to me. Are you using a SATA->Pata converter? It turned out that the converter was having some problems (or so I assume). Using standard PATA or standard SATA is perferct with my board, but I cannot run the performance accelerator at any setting other than default.
I did lose a 120 gig WD SE though by the same means as what it sounds like you are experiencing. Best of luck, and I hope things work out for you.
 
happens to me all the time

I am at 3.75GHz and every time I attempt to hit 3.8GHz, it gives me that error.
 
you would be lucky if you can format.

sometimes it takes your whole drive.

he gets it trying to boot off a CD too so the drives not hurt
 
im not using a PATA converter. ill wait for a few more post brfore i reformat my hard drive. the HD is only a month and a half old, so i hope its not damaged. by the way, how DO YOU corrupt a hard drive. thanks for the input , hopefully someone will know FOR SURE what the problem is and how to fix it.
if need be i will reformat (oh boy!!) and let you guys know if that worked.

thanks BRO for your help.....i see you got an IC7MAX3. i assume you have never seen this message before. my machine is pretty fast, so im not oo worried about it at this point. i DID buy this so i could venture into O/Cing so im gonna try the format option. a couple of other weird little things have been happening also, so i think a format is in order anyhow, just to see if my other idiosynchrocies disappear. thanks again for your help BRO!:) :(

Wow you people really have no clue how a hd works do you???

I suppose you think that turning off the hd while in operation damages the surface of the disk too dont you?

For one thing drives are now rather radically advanced then the drives of old. Drives are now made with features that *prevent* a drive from getting "currupted" or "damaging" the surface in the event of sudden power failure, the read/write heads are no longer held up by active servo control but by magnatism. In the event of sudden power failure the springs attached to the heads recoil them back into the parked postition. (as the servo always works against the spring tension)
