what kind of memory would be best to help overclock my P4 3.0c?
im not worried about price (you get what you pay for) im gonna run in dual channel. and get a gig. what speed and does 4X256mb work better than 2X512mb? ive heard of issues with certain RAM with the IC7MAX3, but only want to hear from peeps that own one. thanks . CLOUD if you read this, i definately want to hear your opinion!

I'm running at 2.6c @ 3.3 using Mushkin Level 1 4x256MB, 5:4 divider, no problems, excellent ram, memtest 48 hours 0 errors.

there were tests run with OCZ memory in a 4 x 256 setup on the Max3. they said that 4 dimms hindered the overclockability compared to 2 x 512. now, 256 MB sticks will overclock better than 512MB because of the lesser load on the fets. but if your going for a gig, then look no further than Mushkins BH-6. it requires alot of voltage for high overclocks at tight timings, but if your not extreme, then the Max3 should be able to get you too 225-240fsb at 3.2v.

main problem with the Max3 is the Vtt issue. Vtt is always supposed to equal half that of Vdimm. one problem though, on the Max3, Vtt stops tracking Vdimm after 2.8v( go figure, 2.8v is the limit on the IC7-G ;) this in turn creates instability when using any Vdimm voltage over 2.8v, especially at high fsb.

the only way to fix this flaw in Max3's design is to apply the Vtt fix which involves soldering variable resistors and setting the Vtt manually.

i have an Abit IC7 Max3, and a IC7-G that are both fully volt modded. Vdd, Vtt, Vagp, and Vdimm have been modded on both. if you are interested in getting this fix, PM me, and i will give you over to the best modder i know. he does excellent work, and at a very reasonable price.

good luck.

I've got 512mb Corsair XMS PC3500 v1.1 running 2-2-2-6 1T no problems. I've run it at 250mhz fsb with 5:4 divider no problem. Will test long term stability after I get a better cooler for my 2.6C.

I bought that kingston hyperx 4000 that was onsale for 100 after the rebate last month at best buy. I'm running my 3.0 @ 3.6 with the voltage bumped up a little (can't remember exactally since im at work). Anyway that ram is running fine at 1:1 and cas 2.5.

At first I had some random reboot problems after playing games for like 5 hrs, but fixed that by ripping out some fan grills, all is fine now...
