Hey guys, I just got a Prescott 2.4GHz processor and I'm running it on my IC7-MAX3. The issue is that for some odd reason, the board is now running in single channel memory mode. I am running the FSB at 185. The processor is running at 3.34GHz, the memory is running at 185MHz with 2-3-2-6 timings. I have three sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200LL memory. It's odd, because I have three sticks of memory, and there are only 4 slots, therefore I know that I have them in at least two of the channels since there are two slots for each channel. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. At the current operating parameters, I am only getting 2,797MB of throughput on my memory and that's pathetic.

My CPU won't run that fast, that's 3.6GHz. I don't know how to run my memory that fast when my FSB can only be 185. I also figured out that you can't use 3 sticks of memory to have dual channel performance, you must use either 2 or 4. Stupid Intel.

Ok, now I have the motherboard and cpu working fine together with dual channel and PAT. The problem is that my SiSoft Sandra Memory Benchmark puts me at 4,007MB throughput instead of 5,000MP of throuput that a 875P motherboard with PC3200 CAS2 memory should be getting. Here are my specs if anyone has any advice:
P4 Prescott 2.4GHz @ 2.88GHz = 18x160MHz
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200LL 2-3-2-5 @ 200MHz
2x36GB Western Digital 10,000rpm SATA drives, RAID0 on ICH5R
Radeon 9800 Pro

How big of a difference is there between PC3200 CAS2 and PC3700 or PC4000 CAS3? Currently my CPU is running at 185MHz FSB for a total of 3.34GHz. The problem is the fact that currently in dual channel mode; I am loosing 1GB of transfer per second due to the missing speed. If I use the 4:5 CPU:Memory multiplier, the memory would run at 233MHz/466MHz DDR, and my current Corsair XMS PC3200LL doesn't handle that obviously. I am just wondering if PC3700 or PC4000 with the slower timings will be faster or slower.

I started PCMark 04 before I went to bed, and when I woke up it had given a Windows error message. Everything else continued to work fine; this is the second time this has happened. It occurs during the second to the last test, a hard drive test called file copying. Anyone have any idea as to what would cause this when the rest of my system seems to be stable?

I finally raised my vCore up to 1.6125 volts and it's stable as a champ. Going to run 3dMark01, Prime95 and defragement all night and see if that will kill it.

what did you do with the 3rd stick of RAM? I was going to say that's why your system wasn't in dual channel anymore, was because of that 3rd stick. You'd need 2 or 4 sticks. An uneven number of sticks will take your system out of dual channel.

Ok you've got your memory running at 200Mhz now? Part of the reason why your only getting 4,007MB/s is because your CPU is only running at 2.88Ghz. You probably also need to do some tweaking. Sisoft gets your bandwidth scores from a compilation of your CPU, Chipset, and RAM. All three have to be performing well to get a high score.

You have to do quite a bit of tweaking and make sure you have anything that might be eating CPU and RAM up turned off when you run it. I been getting over 4600MB/s on my 3.0c and Mushkin PC3200 lvl 1 with 2-3-2-5 timings but i havn't done alot of tweaking.

I just ran SiSoft with a few windows open and my USB 56k modem plugged in and my score dropped to 3719MB/s. If you have anything plugged into the Firewire or USB ports you need to unplug them. You also need to shutdown anything you dont HAVE to have running.

What i would recommend doing is ither getting some PC4000 RAM so you can run 4:5 and overclock your processor more OR what i would really suggest doing is getting rid of that 2.4A and getting a 2.8E prescott that has an 800Mhz FSB.
