Last week my iBook stopped charging with its power adapter, it runs of the battery fine and it will run off the adapter just not charge. Its onlt 2 months old and there is no reason it should have jsut stopped working. My problem is I do not have apple care for it so whem i called apple they said they could not even take a question unless I paid some assesment fee. So im trying to figure out what can be done to help fix it.

Im not near any apple stores to which is a problem so im just wondering if anything else can be done and also if any one else has had this problem and how it was fixed (it seems fairly common there is a decent sized thread about it on the apple site)
thanks

if it isn't charging try resetting the PMU (shut down the comp, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Option+power button for one second and let go, count to 10 and turn on comp) if that doesn't resolve the issue you will need to call in and either setup the Apple Care or do the per call charge. If you go the per call charge and it is a HARDWARE issue you will not be charged as it will be covered under the warranty of the product...and if the comp is only 2 months old you should still be under the 90 phone support so this shouldn't be an issue at all

I tried reseting the PMU that did not work. Called apple and they gave me a location about a hour away to get it checked out. Any other options or people that have run into this problem? thanks

are you in the US or canada? if you are in the states then you should just be able to send it in for service...if you are in canada then you have to take it to a local service provider for service/repair
