ibook G4 dead battery

My ibook shut off the other day randomly and now the battery doesn't work at all. Pressing the button yeilds no lights and battery charge % shows 0. I rarely used the laptop on battery so it doesn't make sense. My trackpad is also busted (click works, pad doesn't ever work) and my keyboards num lock turns on/off at random. Is this thing a lost hope?

Did you leave the laptop plugged in most of the time with the battery in? that explains the death. li-ion batteries dont last long when stored at 100%, esp when the temp is raised.

Yeah, the newer batteries aren't as susceptible to those sorts of deaths anymore. The only real detriment to a plugged in battery now is if the heat over time will slightly damage it.

Yea, I have a Compaq that I leave plugged in all the time, and it was made in 2005, and it hasn't hardly lost any charge at all. Yes, I think heat does play a role in how long the battery lasts
