So I now have an IBM x3650 (7979) that was going to be recycled.

It currently has only 1x processor and 4GB of RAM.

From what I was able to find, it may or may not require 4GB dimms to be fully buffered.

On IBMs site, it only lists up to 2GB dimms to not have to be fully buffered.

I will be able to try regular ECC dimms soon enough, but was wondering if anybody here has experience using 4GB ECC (non FB) dimms in one of these machines.

EDIT:
Never messed with upgrading the hardware on a system that uses FB dimms before. The RAM is keyed different then regular ECC. Guess that answers my question.
