IBM laptop CPU question

I have a T41p IBM laptop with a Intel Pentium M 1.7GHz processor. I'm wondering if there is a way to find the chipset information of my laptop to find what retail Intel CPUs would be compatible with my laptop. You see I'm looking to upgrade the CPU to something a little faster but I don't really know what will be compatable.

I'm an experianced (in my humble opinion) desktop builder and computer enthusiast but I hate to admit that I don't have much experiance working with laptops... Hence my question.... :)
 
I'm fairly certain you can upgrade the CPU to a Pentium M 765, 2.1 GHz Dothan, as max processor. It should be nothing more than taking keyboard and heatsinks off and replacing the CPU. To be certain you should check the unofficial Thinkpad board at http://forum.thinkpads.com
 
the T41p uses the i855 chipset, and can take any chip (pentium-m) that is run off the 400fsb.
