i9-7980XE delayed until 2018?

i'm confused how "later this year" was translated to "won't be released til 2018".. i don't care one way or the other when it's released but how the article writer got 2018 out of what Raja said makes no sense.

True...but even being delayed until "later this year" is bad enough. It does remind me of the original P4 EE, which was also released when Intel was caught flatfooted by AMD after AMD announced their FX chips. Intel paper-launched the P4 EE in September 2003 and we didn't actually see the chip until right around Christmas. They did at least have samples back them...but there's been no sign of 12, 14, 16 or 18-core samples in reviewer's hands yet...

There is no sensationalism clickbait if its not 2018. A lot of "techsites" are busy with who can post the most BS to get most clicks.

The 18-core CPUs are not scheduled until later this year. Won't have them for a while. Either way, unless you're using the rig for rendering or encoding to make a living, no need.
