So, if I wanted to get another 6GB of memory would that affect my oc much? currently im at 3.6ghz with 200block and 1600mhz for the ram

it may or may not change your OC but there really isn't a way to know by how much until you have all the slots filled.

I bet a 3.6 you probably won't need to drop it any.

i would check xs extreme bandwidth forum. they prob have the largest group of guys with 6 stix.

Since I assume you've already considered the reasons for getting the extra memory, the only thing left to do is buy and try it. Why? There's so very many factors involved in whether or not the overclock will affect the system's ability to work with that much memory installed, and we have so very little information from you about your system, that we cannot give any honest "yes" or "no" answer. In memory-intensive apps or a highly multitasked environment, that extra memory is gonna be incredibly more beneficial than the extra few hundred MHz being pumped out of your processor.

I'm runnig 6 stix. It doesn't seem to limit my OC. The worse thing that can happen is you'd have to drop the Ram one speed grade ie.) 1600 to 1333. Which isn't too bad anyways.

What ram are you running?

If you're on 1T stuff, the drop in speed should be too noticeable in real world.

12GB is helpful if you're messing around with VMs and don't want to have the HDD swap that often.

what about those with 4? what happens. usually kits come in 3x2gb what happens when you put a forth does that affect the triple channel effect?

installed the 3 new dimms, np =) booted right up with old settings

btw I'm using G.Skill 1600 9-9-9-24 but it is 1T
