I have a question about my i7 temps.
I haven't really played a whole lot with the overclocking yet, just did a few runs to find some decent clocks that were stable. I stopped at 3.9 for now, until I can finish my case, and have adequete cooling in place.
My question though, I haven't gone down as low as I want on the volts yet, to find my highest overclock on the lowest possible volts, but I did notice that @ 1.2v @ 3.6GHz, my temps do not vary that much from my 1.247v 3,9GHz oc.
This is of course during the hottest part of the day, and at night, when it's cooler in the house the difference between the two grows. Is it just because my ambient temp is so high, that even at lower speeds and volts, my temps are within a couple of degrees of each other?
I know that these tests will all change, once my case is actually finished and I have all of my cooling in place. Then I will be able to do a more accurate and closer comparison of the two different clock speeds and volts.
I'm just curious too, why the i7 runs so much hotter than the AM3, when I have been able to push the i7 much further and on much less volts too.
