Hey everyone, i was wondering if the 965EE's QPI of 6.4GT/s has any impact on real world performance like gaming over the 920's 4.8GT/s
 
none whatsoever, that bandwidth is beneficial for server duties, not for gaming. besides, it's easy enough to oc that 920 and QPI will match that of 965 in no time.
 
IIRC the 965 allows DDR3-1333 by default. Since the uncore is tied to the QPI, and the uncore (memory controller) has to run at at least double the mem bus to accomodate the "double" part of double data rate, the QPI had to be bumped a little. But no direct benefit, no.

I don't think the uncore is tied to QPI.

Everything starts from a 133 base clock. You can set the multiplier independently for QPI and NB.

My 920 came with 2.13GHz NB clock and 4.8GTs QPI. I OC the NB to 2.66 ( run sync with the CPU ) and RAM from 1066 to 1333 ( to match the NB ). QPI stayed the same.

Memory scores improved from 17 to 20GBs.
 
uncore is mem controller and something though. And they are tied together. I thought it was the QPI controller.
