i7 overclock help!

Hey,

I finally mustered up the courage to tinker w/ my new i7 system. I have the i7 920 CPU that runs 2.66 stock, but i want to safely crank it up to 3.2 using the stock cpu fan. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing here, but I went in and tinkered w/ BIOS to get the below.

Summary:

i7 920 CPU
P6T x58 Mobo
1600mhz 3gig RAM
Nvidia GTX 260 core 216
Velociraptor 300gig HDD

650Watt PSU

I'm most worried about the RAM voltage, considering it can't be above 1.65v with the i7's. Also, i'm not sure how to check how fast my RAM is running. Should be 1600mhz lol. I know i should be able to read it off the above cpu-z readout but i don't get it. Help!
 
Also, the memory is rated at 8-8-8-24 timings...obviously not what CPU-Z is showing. Bad? I don't want to fry anything!
 
change the qpi to x36 uncore to x16 and memory to x8 should put you right where you want to be. Also want to set your ram timings manually.
 
how do i set my ram timings manually for that particular ram??? Also, how do i know i'm running at 1.65v?
 
You're looking for help in the wrong place, methinks. Ask a mod to move your thread to the Overclocking and Cooling forum.
 
yeah, try the overclocking and cooling forum, or the intel CPU forum...... a good overclock is nice for gaming (sometime) but you can't really learn about how to overclock in the gaming section, no really! btw nice spex i am JEALOUS! :D

If you dont know this, I wouldnt be OCing at all. There are a bunch of guides out there. Check it out.
 
To tell you the truth I wouldn't bother overclocking. It's a very fast CPU as is, why introduce necessary risk to it that could shorten it's life span when it's not needed?
 
I wouldn't o/c your cpu using the stock cpu fan. You may need to get a custom cooling solution first. A heatsink possibly.
