this is really bugging me... but why did you get a msi micro motherboard and a single 5770 to pair up with that core i7 975 extreme edition?

i wouldve saved a bit more money and build a 6 core setup.....

edit: ohhhhhh he said he got the 975 for free..... lucky

Dont forget use lots of cable ties to sort out a wire nest

I could understand getting an EE proc if he wants speed without an OC but for all intents and purposes would it be more cost effective at that price range to just wait a few weeks and get an i7-980X EE? Otherwise nice build, hope you wire it up clean. I'll be watching for awhile longer. edit: you all beat me to it, free 975? good on him

He got the processor for free! Budget build otherwise.

i7 Extreme Edition, and a 5770? Something is wrong with this picture.

Heh heh, I haven't built an i7 rig yet. I'll likely need some reading materials from somewhere too, at least for some new platform overclocking tips. [H] is a good source of info. Toss the instructions and hit the interwebs!

edit: GAH! My eyes!
edit2: pics of mother-in-law required
edit3 (Protip): Ensure all parts are functining correctly before screwing everything into the case.

Someone should make a copy of the chatlog and paste it here in a code box. :D

EDIT: Ah poo it only goes back so far.... oh well

wow ...the setup...the floor on a rug ...so professional .......

Seriously, that was the most boring 5mins I've spent in a while and I love building pc's or having anything to do with them.

I need a good ATI OC tool/guide

same for i7.

it's been awhile, been on nVidida 8800GT and a c2d 6350 2.66 that did 3.4

Never thought I would sit around on a Friday night for the past hour or so in my jammies watching a guy work on his rig.. but.. I did!! The room chat did have make it a bit more interesting!!

Fun to see what Kyle likes to do with his Friday nights.. watching hardware pr0n!!

pleez-dont-bother-me-lookin-at-pr0n-k-thx.jpg

I understand everyone's build is personal and unique so not really subject to being questioned but, personally, it I had received a free i7-975, I would have tried to sell it on eBay for about $800 and apply the $ towards a 980X which might give the machine an extra year or two of life beyond the 975. But, then again, if I got a free 975, perhaps I wouldn't tempt fate!!

WOW.. an NewEgg shopping cart with over $200 in taxes!! Why I hardly ever shop at the Tiger Direct/CompUSA a few miles from my house.. the tax kills most decent deals!!

Thanks for sharing your Friday night with us im_electronic!! Hope your rig exceeds all your expectations!!

now that our very own im_electronic is an int@rw3bz/[H] celebrity...
