im seing so many people ending up with these chips, and i know 75% of them aren't reveiwers in any way. how in the heck are they getting these parts? if it's that easy to get one, i want one too. surely there is something fishy going on.

according to ProVantage they have the hexa core Xeons in stock. at like 2k each, lol. i was just curious because so many are throwing up cpu-z shots and i just thought it was odd that some of the people that have it, actually have it. i even saw a few where it was an "es" chip. I know for a fact ES chips are sent out free with NDA, and id say some defunct site got a few too many or is no longer doing reveiws and just hasn't told them yet. none the less though, i can't wait till they hit retail.

looks like he sold the chips then, or got in trouble for posting them up.

if the price can go down 40% then something to consider about, especially with folding rig.

Does anyone know when the entry level of Hex core available?

Rumors are that theres an '3.2ghz? i7 970' slated for next quarter...but its in the $562 segment, still not cheap enough for most people.

It might be a looong time before an <$300 sweetspot hexcore appears. They *just* replaced the 1.5 year old i7 920 with a minor clockbump i7 930 for that price tier, and I doubt intel is in any hurry to do so. Gotta milk the cows.
