well at stock no oc my temps are 40 38 39 36, thats cause i just dusted the filters, i did an oc for shits an giggles and it was hitting up to 83 @ 4ghz at load with prime.,,, why is my temps high normaly with no oc.. I know my room is a bit hot, if the thermastat says 78 for the ac unit, my room is usually a few degreees hotter so id say my room is about 80 degrees right now. I have a mugen 2 as a cpu cooler, and i have an antec 1200 case.

What sort of paste are you using. My i7 920 with a thermaltake axp-140 overclocked to 4.00ghz I get a temp of 22C idle, 24-25 load. At stock I get 19 idle. I think you can get a bit more performance out of your cpu.

My room is pretty cold though. Probably 18-19 i don't have a probe in there to tell you exactly, but its not too hot at all.

wow insane temps, i am using artic silver 5. my room ambient if i had to guestame is about 26c

also how do you find out what number you have on your chip? i see people talking about 358xxxx i have no idea what they are speaking of.

Where are you guys? I am in Connecticut & my office is ~20 ... I am too warm. My i7 920 can push 80+ deg C for days ... under load of course.

Im in texas my room is a damn sauna. I hate it, espically when i see people saying the push load at what i idle.. I am going to get a second fan for my mugen and see what that does for me.

Right now im at a stable oc of 3.8

Idle temps 43 41 41 39

load temps 78 77 72 74

settings i did for the OC

Speed step disable

BCK FREQ 190

PCIE 100

DRam Freq 1523

cpu volt 1.25

Dram bus bolt 1.64

ran prime for about 10 mins pretty stabe but i am no where near pleased with my load tems, as im typing this my idle temps went even lower 42 40 40 39. Idk whats up. I have a friend that lives in the same state and has about the same idle temps but @ his load it was 67 max.

Like i said i have a mugen 2, it may be faced the wrong way but switching it around i dont think will make to much of a difference i also have the fan towards the back of the case help exhausting out.

some pics, dont mind the arrow direction i have fixed that.

as some people may say those temps are fairly normal, i dont think so i dont feel comfirtable @ those temps, i leave my pc on most of the time.

also my room is about 78 right now about 25 26 c i have a thermometer sitting in here.

so i got home and did a basic overclock to 3.8 Idle temps 43 41 41 39 load temps 78 77 72 74 settings i did for the OC Speed step disable BCK FREQ 190 PCIE 100 DRam Freq 1523 cpu volt 1.25 Dram bus bolt 1.64 ran prime for about 10 mins pretty stabe but i am no where near pleased with my load tems, as im typing this my idle temps went even lower 42 40 40 39. Also i want to add that while gaming it goes no higher then 53 when the cpu tops for a quick second.

i7 920 @ 3.6 (21x172), 1.26v idling at 36/33/37/34 right now, normally see just over 60 under full load using a TRUE Spirit w/ stock fan.

Youre temps are perfectly fine for being in Texas like me. What you will notice like mine and youres, you will be able to increase youre voltage but youre temps wont go up as much as say the guy in conneticut and when he is done he will end up almost idling like you the diff is the ambient temp, sucks living in Texas. I idle almost the same as you with ultra120 and the 1200 case and with tri sli. I am pushing 1.5 to 1.6 thru my co 965. Dont worry enjoy it its a nice little system.
