So here's the two systems I currently own... amazing deals on both.

i7-860
evga p55 ftw sli
2x2gb hyperx 2000
($400 shipped)

i7-920 d0
foxconn flaming blade gti
3x2gb ocz gold 1600
($475 shipped)

question is which to keep which to sell to the roomate. Both are 4ghz machines but the evga has raid and sli where as the fox only has xfire and no raid.... I know the 920's have better overall bandwidth but I'm curious if I'd benefit longer from the 860 with the upgrade potential "and reliabilty" in the evga board. any input would be appreciated.

Actually, the 920 with the socket 1366 motherboard should give you better upgrade options later on. As far as I know intel's 6 core processor is going to be socket 1366.

Agree with JapaneseGorilla to go with the 920 for a better upgrade path in the future.

i'd sell the 920 and keep the 860.
lower electricity bill and runs cooler when you don't oc it.....

and buy a new system when its too slow and needs to be upgraded. so don't need to worry about upgrade paths and whatnot.

then again i'm not a [H]ard user....i just use one mainstream vidcard and dropping in a lsi raid card later so two x8 pci-e slots are good enough for me

suppose i could just upgrade my foxconn to an evga x58 and be a happier guy
