Ive heard these run hot and read 80s is fairly normal then heard some say its not normal. I am getting high 30s at idle and Prime95 took me to 81C and linX took me to 86C. Is this to hot? I am still working to find my lowest stable voltage. This MSI GD65 has a very annoying Vdroop issue.. you have either High Vdroop which works as normal Vdroop.. or Low Vdroop that actually over volts when under load.

Played with voltage.. now im peaking at 76C.. passed 20 passes of LinX and just passed IBT set to maximum and 16 threads. Now for an 8 hour run of Prime 95 to finish it off. So far its been stable at 1.352V for 4ghz. This board is strange with the Vdroop so it idles at 1.328V and then loads at 1.352V. This is the GD65 (low vdroop) mode.

What heatsink are you using? And those temps are fine, especially after you dropped the voltage, so as long as your overclock is stable, you're good to go.

Rig is in my sig...Just passed my first 8 hour run of prime no problems now time for an 8 hour blend test to finish it off. Surprised I got it stable at 1.352V @ 4ghz.

Passed prime blend for 8 hours.. peak temps were 77C after all the stress testing. Seems like she is stable at 1.352V under load.

This is a little high for P95, but definitely not abnormal temps for an 860. I have a megashadow on my i7860 (1.35Vcore) and Prime 95 puts me at like 72-73 peak and LinX with 8 threads puts me around 80. My heatsink & 860 are lapped up to a 2500 grit super-flat finish and I'm using the prolimatech PK-1 thermal compound. I'm using a scythe slip stream / Kaze-jyuni 1900rpm fan for my megashadow, and my case is the CM HAF922, ambient is about 23-24 degrees C

I did the intel burn in test set to maximum with 16 threads and 5 passes still didn't put me in the 80's with this lower voltage. It didn't take much more voltage to push the temps high. How do you like your ripjaw ram kit?
