CoreTemp 0.99.5 tells me that cores 0 and 2 are running a few degrees hotter than cores 1 and 3. Is this normal?

Temps are pretty mild. Ambiant is around 21.5c, and CoreTemp says my cores are at 27, 23, 27, and 24c at idle (all stock, no OCing).
 
Intel neither designs nor calibrates these sensors to be accurate at idle. Their only purpose is to control thermal throttling and thermal shut down at about 100C and 125C respectively. Don't worry about your reported idle temperatures. They are not 100% accurate so comparing them to other users is pointless.

For me, there is always at most a difference of 4C between the coolest and warmest cores. However, I have seen some setups that have around a 10C difference. I would probably be more concerned if there was a difference of >10C between the warmest and coolest core. At that point, you might want to recheck your thermal compound or reseat the heatsink.

I've re-seated this particular heatsink 4 times in the last month, 3 times due to motherboard replacements, and once due to my own neurotic worry that I did something wrong. Temps seem to be the same. Occasionally a single core will jump for a second, then go back to normal. 2 hours worth of data collection, and I've got lows of 25/22/26/23 and highs of 32/26/29/33, with the average being in the mid/high 20s.

It's even more useless when we are talking about temps under 50C. Your temps are 70C away from the max. No point in worrying about them.
 
If you are idling in the 60's then i would be concerned... load temps are what you focus on, keep load temps below 80 degrees and your rockin'
 
Yeah, don't worry about it. My first core is usually 6 degrees hotter than my 4th core at idle. However, under load those differences shrink to 2-3 degrees.
 
All the cores are within 1 or 2 degrees of each other at load (around 49-51 at stock speeds), so I guess everything's ok.
