i7 7700k vcore increase

So, sort of a noob question. I built my system back in March and the MB is a Maximus IX hero. Using the Asus overclocking, I ended up stable since that time with what it called a 16% overclock. I did not adjust anything in the BIOS manually.

This past Friday, I started getting Blue Screens with WHEA uncorrectible errors. I could not get it to boot. It just kept looping with the Blue Screen popping up before it got to the login screen. I removed RAM, drives, peripherals to no avail. I then went into the BIOS and tinkered and the problem was solved by disabling Turbo mode. Since then, I upped vcore and enabled Turbo and it is working again. My vcore was 1.136 prior to adjusting, and it is now working at 1.146 the same as it was prior to the issue this past Friday.

With all that out there, my question is whether or not having a completely stable system to suddenly have issues like the one I described and being fixed by increasing vcore is a sign my CPU is starting to die. If so, I am not too happy having that happen in a 6 month old system. My last CPU was a 2500k that lasted 6 years.

Thoughts?

Use AIsuite to check how high the voltage goes under full load with prime95.
Report back that voltage.

Got home from work. Tried prime 95. Would only run for less than a minute then blue screen. Max voltage I saw before crashing was 1.376. Loaded all BIOS defaults and it kept blue screening even without getting to prime 95. Disabled turbo mode again and that is the only way I am able to be on the computer right now. I guess this means the CPU is pretty much about to die?

Well I can't overclock my 6700k anymore, been like that for almost a year, still working fine on stock settings, so you might still be fine, would start to worry if it also happens at stock settings.

1.146 is low. What clock are you running and what is the vcore at full load? is that set vcore or do you have an offset?

It is getting worse. I get blue screens at stock now also. Dropped the multiplier to 30 and it is working for the moment. I guess I am asking the experts if it could be anything other than CPU. My guess is no since it is pretty clear it is getting worse. The voltages are all steady so I doubt it is a MB issue.

Yeah many other problems can cause blue screens, next time you see it give us the number it shows.

With the multiplier dropped to 30 and vcore at 1.3 it is stable ATM, but literally within the last hour it has gotten this bad. Guess I need a new CPU.

Make sure the CMOS did reset.
It should prevent your machine booting and insist you enter the bios setup if it has worked.

Assuming that was ok, check the CPU temp when it crashes, using AIsuite.
If its above 80C there may be a cooling problem.
If not do the following.

Take all but one stick of memory out and make sure it is running at 2133MHz.
ie do not enable XMP.
See if that stabilises it at the correct CPU speed.
Try each memory stick one at a time if it is still a problem.

After that, if it is still crashing no matter what, I would rebuild the machine (ie refit all the component and power connections).
Leave the CPU in its socket, the socket is very delicate and damage isnt covered under warranty so looking at that is a last resort because its easy to bend a pin.
Make sure the memory is fitted well and all power connections are snugly clipped in place.

Thank you guys for your input. I did everything Nenu mentioned in his last post. Temps were around 76C when it last crashed. Prior to posting, I took out both RAM sticks, put only 1 in, then took that one out and used the other one. Still crashed. No XMP set either time. Took out my video card, used the integrated graphics. Took out all my drives except the main drive. Disabled everything I could think of disabling. I am worried about damaging the CPU on removal, but I think I am going to ask a friend of mine if I can borrow his CPU to confirm it is in fact the CPU. I miss my rock solid 2500K system. I hope my kid is enjoying it. Ugh.

It turned out to be the CPU. I had to keep progressively lowering the multiplier until it got down to 24. It worked for half a day at 24x and then would not POST after that. The Qcode was D0, CPU initialization error. Got the new CPU last night and kept everything stock. Ran prime 95 for 2 hours. I am on air. Max temp was 79C.

Well done.
That temp is a bit high for stock speed though.
It will help to turn the fan up.
Which cooler do you have?

Cooler Master Hyper 212. I have an old water cooling setup, dual 120 mm radiator. I just need a new CPU waterblock. Thinking about going down that path.
