If your main goal is running uncompressed 1080p Blu ray rips through handbrake, is there going to be any benefit from the i7-8700K? Or just stick with an i7-7700K?
2 more cores is not worth the side grade. However 4 more cores is. So if you went x299 then yes it makes a difference. Handbrake seems to scale well using the nightly builds as of late. The current release version doesnt know how to handle more than I think like 10 threads or something around there. But the nightly build will use all my 32 threads I have available and use them quite well indeed. Esp. doing h264 to h265 conversions. That one is MEGA hard for CPUs to work through. I wished Cuda worked then I could use the 2000+ Cuda cores in my GPU to do the 64 to 65 conversions.
