Will the i7 5775c run with normal DDR3 1.5v? It seems odd that Intel's website says DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.5V, I thought DDR3L was always 1.35v. I kind of wanted to get a 5775c for my m-itx gaming box. I could then move my 4770s back to its original board. However if I would need new ram might as well just get a new motherboard too and a 6700.

This thread points to an Intel datasheet that says it supports both voltages natively.

I just double-cheked the datasheet, and he's right: there are two separate entries for VDDQ: 1.5v and 1.35v, both supported.

Tom's Hardware put 1.5v ram on their review sample without issue

I think Intel is just trying to push the industry toward offering more 1.35v DDR3 modules in the last years of it's life. Plastering
"official" support for 1.35v on all of it's press releases goes a long way toward that, (if a bit confusing for custom builders).

Hey, thanks for the info. Still debating if I should go with the 5775c, get a 6700, or just stay on my 4770s in that machine for now until something much better comes along.

Have you been able to source a 5775c that doesn't cost more then a house? I have considered grabbing one for my Dad's Z97 box to replace the Pentium G3258..The 3258 is plenty fast @ 4.4Ghz (on stock Vcore no less) but the integrated iGPU is lackluster to say the least..

From what I have found, it would be cheaper for me to grab a 4790K (I have 3 MC stores near me) and just drop in a decent dGPU..

Well B&H has it for MSRP that is the best I have seen, but it is no Microcenter level deal. My game machine is a m-itx board and the Noctua NH-L9i low profile cooler i have been using is only rated for 65w, so I was looking to stay in that.
