anyone notice these are sold out at newegg and microcenter? any reason why?

They've been out of stock for at least 2 weeks. Amazon just went out of stock 3 days ago. Frys is out as well.

Ewiz, NCIX have stock if needed.

Newegg just received some 3770k's back in stock a few days ago but they sold out not long after.

I was hesitant to buy one on release day because I suspected some price gouging, but I'm glad I bit the bullet since there's been no price drops and hardly any stock.

I do see them come in and out of stock once or twice a week from various etailers, so hopefully you get lucky soon.

I would have never guessed this being an issue.

I was able to get mine @ the Rockville, MD store on June 2nd..I did an instore reservation since they had 10 in stock @ 12:23am on Friday the first, and then @ `1pm it was down to three! I am not sure what the deal is, but NE was also sold out @ the time.

I was hoping to pick one up when I was on vacation in Minnesota, but they've been out of stock for a while now.

Those chips are selling like cakes, some competition from AMD would have make miracles to us, sadly their are out of the game :(

Intel had the same problem recently with the release of SB-E and the 3930k. When the chips first came out in November they were in stock everywhere for MSRP and easy to get and then a few weeks later they went out of stock and stayed out of stock for a couple of months.

Yes, but the difference is a CPU for a mainstream platform that's going to be produced in much greater volume than a specialty CPU for an enthusiast niche platform.

However, we could consider the 1155 K series of CPU an enthusiast niche, but still, from a sheer volume perspective, the 1155 K is going to be produced at an exponentially greater volume. If they don't qualify to be an unlocked K series at the time of manufacturing, then they are binned to a lower SKU. Could be yield issues with the new 22nm process being the reason for the scarcity of the IB i7 K.

Even then, I think some of it has to do with LGA1155 K procs being much more popular in the enthusiast segment than 2011 simply due to price/performance of CPUs and motherboards.

Well of course but along with the 3770K processors being produced at an exponentially greater volume so also is the exponentially greater demand for a more mainstream $350 processor than a $600 one.

Yes, but I'm pretty confident in stating that the IB I5 K is outselling the i7 K by a huge margin, much like what we saw with SB. So this leads me to speculate that there may be some i7 K 22nm yield issues, and those that fail end up getting binned at i5 K or vanilla i5 or i7. And it's odd that i3 is so delayed...we're coming up on two months of IB being released, afterall.

Could it be that Intel is diverting production to fulfill OEM orders for mobile parts?

it is more than possible that intel is using their fabs to make mobile parts rather than desktop ones.

I wish Microcenter had them in stock, as they have the absolute best prices. ($290 for a 3770K) I would wait for Microcenter if you're within driving distance, because you'll have to pay +$70 on newegg.
