Hi,

I have the i7 2600k in a asus Sabertooth P67 mobo. Currently bclk 100 / 46 mulitplier.

My question is on cpu voltage, I hard coded it to 1.38 in the bios. But since I left speedstep and so on enabled, when my computer is idle and the multi drops to 16, the voltage is still up at 1.38.

The reason I hard coded it was because if I left it on auto it would get up to 1.5v under load, so the bios seemed to be overcompensating.

I would like to have it limited to say 1.4v but still allowed to go lower when idle. I'm just not sure how to make that happen?

Thanks,

You have to set a manual offset, instead of a manual voltage (1.38) or an Auto offset (when it got to 1.5). Select offset mode, then in the offset voltage box put in whatever voltage you want added (or subtracted) from the default voltage. It's a game of trial and error to hit the target load voltage, but once you do it'll downclock at idle, and go to your desired voltage at load. You also need to play with the load line calibration to get the best settings.

I'm assuming here that the Sabertooth has the same UEFI layout as the other Asus boards, since I don't have one.

Thanks for the info, yeah it's them same layout. So, if the default voltage is approx. 1.13 I would put in a + offset of 2.7 volts (total = 1.4) and thats the ticket?

0.27, but yep, that's the idea. I think the best results are with load line calibration set to lower levels (like regular).

lol, yeah I meant 0.27. I got it working after a bit, but the thing that made it work well was turning down all the digi+stuff, like you mention, to 'standard'. Now I'm at x46 multi with around 1.35 volts under load. Idle is x16 multi at 1.0 v. Seems pretty good for now. Thanks again.
