Hey, I have been building my dream computer and I have everything except the GPU
(crazy right?!) As a placeholder I have been using the CPU's integrated graphics which is an Intel Family HD Graphics 3000.
So anyway, not surprisingly it isn't the best for gaming, not just performance wise but as far as stability goes.
For example, it can play Batman: Arkham Asylum surprisingly well but at certain points it will crash and show a log
(I can't get this log at the moment). The log says something along the lines of not being able to find Kernel.dll
among many other things which seemed extremely strange to me. I am guessing I will just have to wait a couple of months for the graphics card
(a 6970, 7970's are just too expensive here in Australia) but I want to ask you guys if there is anything I can do. Maybe I could tweak the amount of RAM it uses?
(I have 8Gb) Is that even the way it works? I don't know, you tell me! Many thanks in advance.
 
What are your temps when it crashed?

Run a gpu and CPU temp monitor the best time you game and it'll track the max temps.
 
By the way, your bios should be able to give the IGP anywhere from 64 mb to 512mb. Give it 512 if you can.

I have 8Gbs of RAM, so could I assign more? It looks like it is dynamic, the maximum is 1.7Gb and the minimum is 64 mb, so increase the minimum? Thanks heaps, this is what I was looking for

And also Speccy says the CPU temps are at 50 when I do something stressful.

Wow, looks like I could up the core clock speed from the 500Mhz to something a bit higher ... But since I have not overclocked before, I feel as if it could go terribly wrong. If it did go wrong, it would not only wreck my CPU but my MB as well. What would should I do?

Okay, I have looked and it seems that the core clock is actually 850Mhz.

Okay, so in the BIOS there is a setting related to the frame buffer size. It was at 64mb and could be upped to 480mb, Speccy now detects that i have 512mb of dedicated memory not 64mb. Batman does not crash and I can play all games fine. Thanks for pointing me towards the BIOS djgizmo!
 
I have also upped my video memory in BIOS to 512 and raised the IGP core clock to 1.45GHz.
I can honestly say that I actually played Crysis last night @ 1280 x 720 everything medium. It hovered around 29 - 35 fps.

Now you know how consoles can play those games too. I doubt Crysis on consoles were rendered at 720p though.
