Hello all ppl, im wondering at this moment if the i7 2600 if still a good processor for gaming?.. I have it since january 2012 and really i love that processor.. It worth to go to a 3770 or 3770k since i know the haswell series come in new 14nm and socket 1150.. So i think the last ivy 1155 is the 3770k.. For normal gaming i use mine 2600 @ stock speed 3.4GHZ cuz i really don't think its necessary more speed for gaming.. I oc it to 4.3GHZ (the max speed that i can reach with a non K model T_T) only to some bench and 3dmark11 test... I use with a sabertooth z77 it worth really the change to a 3770k?.. The difference between the 2nd and 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors is come down to about 6% if you are not using the IGP (integrated graphic on processor). Now 6% performance improvement really isnt with the extra cost of upgrading at this time. In other year or two then maybe it will be time to upgrade.
 
Even a Phenom II would be perfectly fine with your GTX 660. And an i7 920 @ 4 ghz would be more than enough for 660 SLI, and your processor at 4.3 is significantly faster than both of those.

You're sending mixed messages.

a) Good gaming performance, you love your processor. If this wins, stick with it.
b) Or you have upgrade fever and want a new 3770K to push, benchmark, and pair the new SLI setup. It's a pretty good time to sell the 2600. If that's what you want, that's fine and should be fun. Plus you got your pick of the 1155 litter for motherboards and that will take some time for 1150.

Technically there will be new Ivy-Bridge 1155 CPUs in June, but not in this price range. Look for the i3-3250 and some others.

Hi bud this is exactly what i do... I ordered a new gtx 660ti ftw signature 2 to make an sli setup im not running multi display so i think for only game my rig is good.. Im playing in a 24" 1080p monitor and sometimes plug my 40" tv for media play.. I'll keep my processor for a long time :) ty all..
