i am using stock fan on my i52500k. mobo is asus p8p67.

I have ran it for about 20 minutes now and the temp is 54C in bios. MB temp is 30C

Can anyone address this issue. Is it just the stock fan thats the problem, or is it a problem with the mobo or chip possibly.

Thanks in advance

54C is no problem for an Intel processor (core2 and above). Start worrying when you hit 85C. Most likely in your case the quiet fan feature has the fan at its lowest speed up until the temp hits somewhere in the 60s. Remember Intel CPUs are designed to run at up to around 100C. At ~100C the processor will throttle speed to prevent damage. At around 120C the processor will shut down.

One crazy thing to keep in mind here is that when your CPU is sitting in the BIOS, its running at max speed and max load. Makes no sense, but a lot of recent boards seem to do this.

+1 at the post above.
In the BIOS the CPU sits at max speed and voltage without any energy saving feature.
