Recently, I've been running some different workloads and run into some instability on my OC.
(2 bsod in the past 1.5 months, it has NEVER happened before in almost 3 years)
I did the obvious: upping the voltage a bit, enabling LLC, and lowering my QPI from 36x (18x) to 32x (16x).
My bsod errors were tied to "ntoskrnl.exe" and "hal.dll".
So, based on my research. It was caused by one of three things: malware (taken care of), RAM (lowering the QPI from 18x to 16x might've fixed this?), or random windows kernel weirdness (I honestly haven't formatted since summer of 2013).
I haven't encountered another issue, yet. But I'm just wondering if these BIOS adjustments rectified the problem? If the BSOD pops back up again, is a format the next logical step??
And yes, Memtest is fine. Temps are fine under load etc etc (duh)
Thanks [H],
