Hello all. I built my PC BACK IN 2013/14 with an i5 4670k and haven't touched overclocking at all, only because I'm not sure what to look at when in the BIOS. From people I here you can overclock this mighty i5 over 4.5mhz. If anyone has any experience with overclocking this CPU how can I run this at 4.5mhz or greater then stock?

Recent post on possible upgrades. https://hardforum.com/threads/could-use-some-upgrades.1917958/

Do you have an aftermarket cooler or the stock one? Have you tried the auto overclock turbo function? That works pretty good by itself. What kind of motherboard do you have and what bios? It's pretty easy I have a 4670k at 4.7GHz stable at 1.125 Vcore.

All you have to do is set the multiplier to manual from automatic and then change the ratio up and restart, that's it. Voltage didn't really make much difference for me, increasing the voltage hasn't really increased how much I can overclock. If your computer eventually crashes at an overclocked speed you can just back it down a little bit that's what I did. I can run 4.8GHz but after gaming for an hour or two sometimes it freezes.

Also I noticed that there are some subforums that aren't really used that much anymore. You might be better off asking your question in a more read subforum. I just found this post by searching for 4670k because I'm looking at overclocking my own processor even more, more specifically what voltage is safe to go up to since I recently delidded and want to see if I can push it higher now that the cooling is better.

Once you change your ratio in the bios press F10 to restart and save the settings. Use CPUID program to look at the speed in windows or right click on my computer and go to properties to see what speed it's running at. You can always increase the vcore a tiny bit without worrying these chips are very good with heat it adds stability for a higher overclock. But like I said I didn't even have to raise mine to go way way higher than stock speed. This chips are made to overclock and can go significantly higher than stock with no aftermarket cooling or increased voltage.

Let me know what happens I could help you more wait til you overclock your k series cpu you will notice a big difference.
