Generic aftermarket heatsink w/AS

Mem Voltage = 1.5V DDR3 1600

Mem X.M.P = on
CPU PLL = Overvolting turned off
LLC (Vdroop) = Low Vdroop setting on
VCSSA = auto setting
VCCIO = auto setting
PCH voltage = auto setting
Speed Spectrum = off
EIST = off
Turbo Mode = off
System Power = Intel SVIC

V-Core and Temps:

Stable at 1.350V, but very hot, so much that throttling kicks in under load (All four cores over 85C-90C, too close to TJ Max).

In between the 1.300V and 1.350V BIOS v-core setting, system is still stable but too hot. Under load, the V-core increases up to 1.3970V with the 1.350V BIOS setting.
I did not get a chance to document the increase with the 1.300V BIOS setting.

With the 1.295V BIOS setting, the system is very stable, reported as 1.304V in CPU-Z, and under load going to 1.344V. Temps are now 34C Idle and 84C under load (running Prime95).While stress testing with these settings, I did notice the temperature coming down from 84C to 78C. I will continue to decrease the V-core and stress test, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about these high temps and V-core changes. I'm guessing the V-core increase is related to my "Low Vdroop" setting and Intel's SVID technology increasing power to the CPU as needed.

This is your problem. Get yourself a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ or H50/60 and you should see much better temps.

Are you really trying to OC with generic heatsink? generic heatsink for stock clocks. Aftermarket heatsink for overclocking. I have the H60 and it idles around 27-28c

Unless you didn't seat the cpu cooler correctly

The CPU is seated correctly with the AS line method used. I am trying to save up for a new heatsink (money is tight), but the current cooler is a huge aluminum and copper fin thing (friend made it, lapped perfectly) but because It does not have a model number or name, I called it generic.

Do you know about why the voltage changes on its own? Is this SVID and LLC working correctly? My LLC setting is "low vdroop".
 
you might as well try the stock cooler then. I don't think a thing your friend made is cut out to cool the i5 when its OCed
