i5 2500k question

im running a i5 2500k stock and was wondering if its going to be worth upgrading to haswell or buy a 3770k instead? Ive seen some benchmarks and it doesnt look GREAT for haswell. Tankies in advanced.
 
10-15% over IB

15-20% over SB (predictions)

If you have the upgrade itch I would wait for Haswell. That's what I am doing.
 
IVY will kick any SB specially for the ability to run mem (has a beast IMC) at 2800 to daily use (SB was limited to 2133)

haswell is a guess, if you want to do a nice upgrade now you can find cheap 3770K for 229 at micro buy an Asrock Xtreme mobo that will AUTO OC with VCORE OFFSET to 4.8 easy ;)
 
Not looking like there will be too terribly much difference.... I went from the 2500k to the 3770k and I only noticed differences in things like encoding. Gaming did not change.
 
i too have a 2500K and happily i will have a pretty convenient excuse upgrade to haswell... my wife's computer is a rather ancient C2D E5200 /Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L rig..

my wife doesn't use her pc that much but lately the ol' C2D rig has started acting up.. so when haswell comes I will likely give her my i5-2500K rig and build a haswell one for myself.

You'd get a bigger bank for your buck by just getting a low cost respectable air cooler and doing a modest overclock. Something like a $25 CM 212+ or similar should get you to 4.2-4.5 GHz pretty easily on that chip.

This is good advice.
 
Grab that 3770K. The performance for Haswell over Ivy Bridge isn't worth it. Plus you'll need to buy a new motherboard because it will be on a new socket type.
