i5 2500k ppd?

I just put down for a new mobo and a 2500k. I'm hoping for 5Ghz but if I only get 4.5 I won't cry a bit. I only got the 2500k cause I want to wait for Ivy Bridge before buying a i7.

This is my gaming rig. Which mostly gets use on the weekends, cause I work 50 hours a week.

What are my chances of completing a bigadv on time? What (roughly) can I expect PPD wise from this setup?

you dont have 8 threads so you have no chance of receiving a bigadv

you might try spoofing threads in ubuntu...but since your on windows out of luck...

I get 37k out of my "2600" @ 3.6

in searching for results if you want to dual boot or do vms... you can spoof the threads to nab bigadv....

not spoofing f@h or doing anything that would break the EULA
spoofing OS... and inturn allowing the Phenom II x6 and other capable processors into receiving bigadv units...
which they can turn in faster than an i7 quad with ht... or two i7 quads without ht...

Stanford's official stance has relaxed to if it gets done on time...
Please don't suggest that anyone should fold any other way than [H]ard...

Cool that is like almost quad the points I generate now. After I get a new GPU I can throw that on the burner as well. I really hope they make a 6 or 8 core ivy bridge processor for 1155.

Correct, spoofing the OS doesn't modify the actual client or core and, therefore doesn't break the EULA. Patritot, we had a huge debate on this topic as a team quite a while before you joined. As you have discovered, there are several team members strongly divided on this. I personally don't support, or encourage, this type of "spoofing" as it goes against original team spirit. However, I no longer chastise those who figure out how to do it. It's just a debate I no longer want to participate in. If people are competent enough to run a strong enough overclock that is bigadv stable on an X6 and meeting deadlines by a fair margin on 2684's and not dumping units, I really don't give a fuck anymore. There are more important matters at hand.

you have a source for that? Theone1989 was the only person I could find that reported 2500k PPD. He had his up to 4.5ghz and got 12k PPD on 6701s and 18k PPD on 6025.

It is not Spoofing, that is not a good term, it is software hyper-threading.
basically you are using the operating system to hyperthread more CPU cores than you have.
 
I just got it set up, getting about 14k ppd right now at 4.6 Ghz. I still have some tweaking to do but I imagine this will be about the performance I expect until I get a newer GPU and I get an Ivy bridge i7 when they arrive.

The processor will go all the way to 4.8 easy, but I haven't nailed down how to keep it stable there. The other issue is that I'm not comfortable running it over 70C. At 4.7Ghz it starts maintaining about a 72C average on each core. So I need to see what I can do about it, it would make things easier if the ASUS TurboV software was more stable, it seems to crash often even if you put everything back to stock.
 
I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper N520. I have gotten it to run at 4.7Ghz and maintain temps below 70C by messing with the voltages and the fan settings in the bios. My average PPD has gone up to 16k now as well.
