With intel turbo boost
my 2500k hit 4.1 ghz no problems, 35C during idle, 65C full load

this was done at 2 am thoguh

and in LA, California temps get hot in my house, should i back it down?

(i'm thinking 10-12 degrees more on a hot day)

i have a hyper212+ on a push pull on cougar vortex fans btw
 
Are you running stock speeds? If not, how much did you overclock the processor (from stock)?

Is the system causing your house to become hotter inside than outside? If so, you may need to dial things (considerably) back.
 
it runs stock, but turbo boost kicks in and overclocks it to 4.1 OCCT measured i did a 24% OC on it

at the moment no as it is 2am, but i do hear the fans a bit more

(I'm going to change all the fans later on maybe)
(Planning to upgrade to noctua-dh12) but hyper212 and whatever fans corsair 550d came with
 
Noctua fans are pretty expensive for case fans. And there's no guarantee that they'll perform better than the Cougar fans you already have on the Hyper 212 Plus.

Regarding the Corsair 550D, however, it may not be a matter of replacing fans but adding more. It reportedly comes with three 120mm fans, but where are they currently located?
 
When you tested your OC load temps, add to that the increase in ambient temperature you expect. If it's still in the safe zone then you're fine.
 
thats the problem with air cooling, that ambient effects it so much, but good to know i'm safe!

tiraides - i think its 1 exhaust fan, 1 intake in front although i can add fans

i'm willing to save up for silent fans, as computer noise does indeed bother me
