So which one should i get? is the 2500 superior even with out the overclocking capabilities?

the 2500K is out of the picture for me unfortunately thats why i was wondering how a OCed 760 would do against a 2500 that doesn't overclock.

Why are you choosing a 2500 instead of the K?
The only reason anyone would consider such a thing is if they were on a VERY VERY tight budget, or they needed vt-d (which seems to be important to more than a small number of people).

Spending just a few extra bucks could get up to an extra 1 ghz in performance.

Agreed. That is a very small price difference. Are you maybe confused with the 2600k?

Well i live in Iceland and things aren't that close in price here.

I have a chance of getting the 2500 for $217 and a new 760 costs $269 while the a new 2500k goes for $340.

Edit:

Went for the 2500 because i got it for $173

Me thinks you are confusing the 2500K and 2600K.

The difference between the 2500 and 2500K shouldn't be anywhere near that big. Looks more like 2600K price.

No confusion the guy said he lives in Iceland, unless your there with him you might not know what there pricing schemes are.

2500k

The largest cost difference is the main board. Easier and cheaper to get a 1156 board then a 1155 right now. Wait a month and it will be other way around.

Plenty of boards in stock and ready to ship right now on newegg. Mostly just Asus boards OOS still.

Absolutely not. Unless you need AES-NI or AVX.

I would take a 4.2Ghz last gen over new gen stock anyday.

Lets nobody buy those stinking stock chips. Intel doesn't need any supporters on those ridiculous things.

great deal, why does the new gen chip cost 100 less than the old gen equivalent?

I ended up swapping the 2500 in for a 2500k and paying a around $60 on top of the $173 I payed for the 2500 so I was able to get a new and unused 2500k for $230 instead of $340 :)

Running it at 4.7GHz atm.

Got the Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard, only thing thats nagging me about the board is the vdroop is massive. I set the Vcore to 1.42 in the Bios and it drops down to 1.38 under load. Any ideas on fixing that?
