Im curious, like on the H55 chipset boards you can tell the GPU on the processor to actually be "disabled" thus using less power and increasing success of overclocks...

On a P55 board, does the processor automatically shutoff the GPU knowing there is no compatability for it and the chipset? Or does it just sit idle...using power and potentially diminishing OC potential?

Thanks

I think it is automatically disabled on a P55 chipset.

You need an H55/57 board to use it, I believe :)

It is disabled on any board that doesn't support the IGP (Intergraded Graphics on Processor). If are using a board that does support the IGP you can also turn it off in the Bios or when plugging in a dedicated video card.
