i2500k OC. Stuff to enable/disable?

Hey guys,

I just got my i-2500K with a gigabyte z68-UD3H motherbaord. Its seems as though every guide i look at recommends different settings to enable/disable?

-Can i leave power saving options on? I hear SB is supposed to work with those on
- CPU PLL (what exactly is it)
-Multi load line? (level 3 vs level 6)


Also, what is the common vcore for a 4.5 ghz OC? I initally set my vcore at 1.35 with a load line of 6, but my idle vcore was 1.415 (idle temps @ about 40, load near 70), which i thought was too high in my opinion.

@ stock my temps are 35/55-60
@ 4.5 w/ vcore 1.35 and LLC @ level 6 40/70

Is my vcore too high, on average, for my OC?

My 2500k is overclocked to 4.4ghz using 1.33~1.34v. I use offset vcore instead of manual so the cpu can downclock to 1600mhz. You want to select an LLC that matches closely to the vcore you input. PLL is set to auto on my board (Asus P8Z68-V Pro).
10 pass Intel Burn Test and I get around 75c with a Hyper 212+ single fan.
 
Leave power saving setting on - they work fine with SB overclocks.

CPU PLL Overvoltage is usually only required for overclocks above 4.5 or so - if you want to go above that you might have to enable it. Normally you can tell when it is limiting you because you will hit a wall where even large voltage increases won't work - at that point CPU PLL Overvoltage acts almost like a switch, allowing you to continue overclocking.

I'd set something in the medium range for load line calibration, but you'll probably have to play with it to find the sweet spot. Once you get a good overclock and voltage using a mnaul voltage, you can switch over to offset (adding whatever offset is needed to get your previously tested manual voltage) so it'll downvolt at idle.

I'd say 1.35 is probably about average for 4.5 - maybe a tad high, but nothing to worry about.
