Any way to configure the default windows XP search as the preferred search tool instead of windows desktop search?

I had to install windows desktop search to get the search feature to work in Office 2007, yet it takes over all search functions, which I do not like because it takes for ever to index and never finds what I want. I know I can click the use windows search companion after the desktop search opens, but I want the search companion to open like it did originally without having to go through the bullshit windows desktop search.

I too would love to know this... I HATE the new search features...
Everyone talks about how easy it is to use... I just don't see it. It's "less technical" and more difficult for an expert user to use it.

I'm sure it's more intuitive.

Well, lets try it this way:

Anyone without the windows desktop search feature, please look at the shell open commands for the windows search companion and post them registry entry syntax in this thread please.

You will be helping many many people.

Thanks!
