Well now I got the pc up and running (this posting from me is like a life story....)

Anyway I'm one of the weirdo's who don't mind about pc noise etc, my flat, i wear headphones always listen to music or got something else louder going...

So heres the deal

Fanspeed Set to 100%

Using ATI Overdrive:

GPU Clock: 790mhz
Memory Clock: 1100mhz

Idle: 39c
110% Activity: 45c

I want more.... how can I overclock it more with losing my fan speed... I have ATI Tool but when I run the program the fan turns right down again, temperature increases...

Any experts out there?

How do you get more? By upgrading to an aftermarket cooler to keep your temps in check. Once you hit your limit you could also look into volt modding to push it even further. Be aware that there's always a risk of damaging your card though, and you'd end up voiding your warranty.
 
Get an Accelero S1 cooler and any fan almost, even a silent 120mm fan for your gfx card.
You wont look back, its on a par with water cooling!
 
You can use AMD GPU clock Tool... It gets my 4870 up to 840mhz.

Uhm, but load your CCC profile (edited for fan speed) AFTER you set the core speed in the GPU tool.
 
Well I tried that arcygenical, and I just couldn't get it to work. i'd load amd gpuct, then when i run ccc after it reverts to old overclock.....

to the other guys, even with the overclock runnin its still staying @ 40 degrees idle 45-48 in use.
 
If you want faster speeds you need more volts (GPU) and/or better cooling.
Your temps are quite good so for the immediate future you can get away without better cooling and doing a voltmod.
Ultimately though you will hit the wall much faster with the stock cooler, the S1 assures you will get the best from your card regardless of the voltage.
 
Looked into that,

I've never flashed a gfx card bios before, and i assume you need the right manufacturers custom bios for your card... If that's so then I've stfw and can't find a powercolor 4870 custom bios so i can further my overclock, bit of a shame.

If this is not the case please let me know if it is then i'll be patient for a release and go from there.

no you don't, read the thread. all the cards are reference cards right now, they differ only in packaging. That's why this works.
 
I'm starting to think i got bunk cards. I can only get stable at 825/1100 ON WATER. Its not the temps as load only hits 45C on the cards thats 2nd in the loop.

you guys are making me want to dump my 8800GTX. hell even if you have to go 850/1000 that is still a nice bump. I am going to wait til after the 15th then I am going to bite.
