Hey guys!

So, would this work out okay?

I want to spray paint my mobo, my case, my S1283 and possibly my dominator fan black!

Would using normal spray paint fuck anything up? Would paint just in general be bad?

Spray painting a motherboard? I wanna say absolutely not, but I'm not painting expert. I wanna say paint would hinder the S1283's thermal properties though.

You might be able to anodize the S1283, but paint it? Bad, bad idea.

Do not spraypaint your motherboard. It will very likely kill it. If you want a black board, buy a black board, or possibly make some kind of 'stealth' for the board which covers it and only shows certain components.

Same with the Dominator fans -- painting may kill them, though if you tape them up so noting can get inside the motors it's possible. I'm fairly sure they're black already under the stickers, aren't they? Get some Goo-B-Gone or lighter fluid and get them off before you try painting.

Take everything out of the case (obviously) before painting it, and make sure to mask any areas where you don't want paint very carefully.

you may have slightly higher temps on the S1283 after painting, I would use radiator paint If i was going to paint my heat sink's

as for painting the mobo....

I guess it would come down to if the paint is conductive or not once dry.
only one way to find out for sure.

For the S1283, you may as well get the S1283 Dark Knight. The 40bucks will worth the time and the effort ;)

For the mobo, you mean you want the heatsinks black, right? You may as well anodize it, spray painting the heatsinks is okay also, but it may be decreasing the performance of the heatsink. So maybe one coat is enough, you can't afford to mess up. And no oil based.

For the fans, I think that you mean you want the "chassis" of the dominator fan to be black. The fans are already black already. If you want to paint it, just take out the fans and you can paint it.

You'll kill that motherboard by spray painting it. The mist of paint will become charged as it leaves the spray can and that can't be good for the mother board. Why would you want to paint it anyway? Is it some kind of ultra tacky baby blue motherboard or something?

Always bet on black!

Good lord, if you have a window just spray paint that. None of those sound like good ideas to paint.

buy a black board and buy a black slot protector kit if you want it all black lol

then buy a black heatsink

Sorry guys, I was not in a clear state of mind at the time of this post.

However, shortly after posting this...I took it all apart, and spray painted EVERYTHING with a random can of black spray paint I found...looks great, works the same...zero tempature increase. :-D

I think the link supplied above will give you the same impression as I had. It makes your computer look like total dogshit!

Pics?

I always looking at stuff people killed through modding...

You know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is."

In the back end of that forum post I dropped above someone took a black Sharpie to their mother board.
