There are a lot of computers scattered around campus used for JUST internet. They run Linux and all they're used for is internet. I personally would like to see them put to better use.

On a side note, you guys are SO right. Folding@Home is so much more fufilling than SETI@Home. I feel like we're really helping humanity. I just hope that something can be found, some cure. We can have a party at my place, I'll bring the popcorn. Marty can bring his sexual favors and Moose can bring that booze.

One approach I've tried a couple times is when I'm working on someone's machine that would be a good contributor (I only count fairly fast machines that have DSL or cable connections) is to tell them of the project, and offer $20 off the price of the work if they'll run it for me 24/7. Success has been minimal so far because I've only tried it twice.

If you do get permission to install on the Linux machines, try finstall to do the actual installs. Works well, distro-independent, runs on startup with minimal setup, etc.

Try it. It's not confusing. You download the script and run it, and answer any questions it asks. Then you copy the init file to /etc and you're done.
