I think my OC failed

So my AXP 2100+ has been at 2700+ speeds for about a year, and in the last few weeks i've noticed my XP Boot screen was corrupt but windows worked fine. Also i'd go to turn the comp on and the screen wouldn't come on and there was no beep from the speaker.

So i reformatted yesterday and i went to remove my OC prior to booting from the XP cd, and i saw that my bios had some graphical glitches like numbers and letters just being a blur or square block.

So i set my vcore to auto and cpu speed to stock/auto 1.73Ghz and everything works flawlessly now.

Prior to this i'd be playing a game and all of a sudden it would stop and i'd hear highpitched screeches and whines from the speakers, kinda scary sounds like something is dying. and i'd have to do a hard reset.

anyways, does that sound like the OC finally failed on me? it wasn't that bad i've only lost about 270Mhz or so... :(
