okay, well, I'm tired of spending $10 on crappy headphones. Recently I've switched all my audio to 320kbps and .FLAC. Somewhere in the neat future i'm looking to spend about $150-$200 on some nice headphones. But, there are a few things.

-> I listen ot 95% metal/screamo/rock. So, i want something that sounds great with lots of drums and bass guitar.

-> If they are ear buds they better be comfortable.
-> If they are full headphones, I'd rather they not be huge, but yet i want them to sound good. I don't need noise canceling.
-> I do lots of walking from church/school/friends houses, so, see above. ^^
-> They would be hooked up to my Creative Zen Vision M and hopefully (when i get it) my Sansa Fuze. Which, both have a standard headphone jack (1/8 i think?) So, if they are the 1/4 plug (ithink that's what the size is) I would have to make sure i could get an adapter thing.

-> Also, I'm thinking about getting a headphone amp, but that wont be for a while *just wanted to throw that out there*

Anyways, what are you ideas? Just remember the $150 - $200 budget. I'd also really like these headphones to last 2+ years.

Thanks!

At that price range, you're going to have to stick to DT770 (consumer edition). You could try Grados SR60 or SR80. But Grados have a very specific sound signature that I'm not partial to. However, it has a huge fan base so I don't mind recommending it. SR60 and SR80 are well known for being good with rock. Also, I really enjoy the JVC HARX900. Good all-rounder headphones. Also add the Sony MDR-V6 or 7506 to the mix. Honestly, I find it's pointless to get mid-range headphones. I think it's better to purchase something at around $100 give or take $50, then purchase something way higher that requires a headphone amp when ready to upgrade. That's why I'm giving you good entry level headphones to try first.

Oh one thing to note: Grados aren't known for being super comfortable, just sounding super good. But that's also a matter of personal taste. Some people don't think it's bad at comfort, but some people consider it to be a torture device.

Agree with Alai, except make sure you get the comfy pads (comes with the SR60's). I'd also recommend Alessandro MS-1 (arguabally, the same performance as the SR-120's without the price). You can buy them for ~$100.

If you want to check out earbuds, go with the Etymotic ER6i (~$150) or more moderatly, Sennheiser CX400-II's.

As for the DT770's, they're great but not something I'd want to be walking down the street with (see: big and bulky)

Eh? ER6i is not $150. You're talking about the ER4 which is probably one of the best IEM's around. Btw, IEM does not equal earbud. Different species. Earbud stays just outside the ear. IEM is called In-Ear Monitor.

Also, you can't expect small headphones with great sound except those that are specially engineered for it (ie IEM and earbud). That's like saying you want tiny speakers that give great sound. It just doesn't work like that in the laws of physics given the current speaker/headphone technology.

alright. Sweet, ill take a look into the suggested headphones. Also, ill be keepin' yall updated
