I just got my GeForce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3. I've hooked it up and installed my drivers. Here are my specs.

350 Watt Power Supply
2.2 GHz AMD Athlon
Gigabyte Motherboard
1GB DDR RAM

Shortly after getting everything installed I received this message.

So it reduced my performance due to lack of power. I started to play Ragnarok Online to see any differences.. and the game lagged at times when I had my Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB didn't.

Browsing through the manual I came across this piece of text.

Graphics Card Requiring Additional Power
If your card is equipped with a supplemental power adapter, we strongly advise that it be connected at the time of installation. This supplemental power adapter ensures that your video card receives a clean and strong power signal that will allow it to function at optimal performance levels.

I've got the adapter but I don't know how to hook it up. Can anyone help me out here?

And it said it lowered my performance levels, so after I get more power how can I restore the performance levels back?

Thanks alot guys.

There are two ways to do it.

1. If you have an extra 4 pin molex connector coming from your power supply then you just connect that to the black connector on the tail end of the video card.

2. If you don't have any spare connectors, you will need to use the Y adapter that came with the card. Make sure the computer is off and disconnect everything to be safe. Unplug the power cable going into the back of your hard drive. Plug it into the Y adapter, then plug one end of the adapter into the hard drive and the other into the back of your video card.

Once you give it enough power the performance levels should go back to stock settings.

you sure you have the pci-e power connector plugged in the card. I forgot to plug it in once and i got a similar message.

Thanks alot nobi, method #2 worked. I'm definitely seeing changes in the games I play.
