so i think i've got some issues with my psu for sure, its an enermax all-in-one 535W. from what i've heard not the best model anyways. setup is as follows:
opteron 165 @ 2.4 Ghz, undervolted below 1.2 (god wish i had the cooling to push this thing)
asus A8N32-SLI
2GB mushkin 500Mhz DDR
2x 7900 GTO 512mb in SLI (power whore right there, no o/c)
x-fi xtrememusic
250GB WD caviar SATA
80GB WD IDE
16x LG dvd-rom
16x NEC dvd-rw
on the usb:
stinksys wireless usb network, controller for guitar hero 3, z-board, epson photo R340, and a logitech mx510.
as for fans: the stock hsf on the vid cards, a AC freezer on the cpu (i think its around 100mm), 1x 120mm, 2x 80mm, and one of those system blower exhaust things - turbine fan.
ok so issues....this started a while ago, i was getting lockups at random in xp. usually overnight making it very hard to recode video. i thought hardware, found ram errors. strangely a bios flash fixed that. next, also tried other ram. same issue until the flash. all settings back to stock, stress test cpu and HDD's, etc. etc. the usual steps. in the end i formatted and reinstalled xp. fixed the freezing, but then i started getting crashes where the comp would randomly restart - constant in GH3 (just got it after reinstall, so i figured it was a game issue). now here's why i think psu - i pulled out one video card, disconnected all drives except my 250gb sata, disconnected all fans but the cpu (and vid card/psu which i can't anyways) and what do you know GH3 was much more stable. it would restart, but i could actually play for around 30-60mins as opposed to 5 mins. putting the stuff all back in stability went down again....i also had it restart exactly the same a few times just on desktop!
so i can't think of anything else. just hoping that i'm not missing anything here before i plop down $150 on a corsair 620HX....as sexy a psu as it is
also, think i can rma the enermax? its within the 3 year warranty and the wife could use it when we build her a new machine. no big load there. i'm just worried because its very sporadic and may be stable for a few hours or minutes. thanks guys!
