Is it me, or is my brand new HP tablet pc, venting fumes of burning plastic? It does get very hot when i stream video and play unreal tournament on it. When i touch the bottom of it it burns my hand.

I cant stand the smell!!!
 
I know what you mean about those things getting hot, I bothered the hell out of a guy with one during a layover at ATL until he let me play with it for a few mintues.

However, since this is a brand new machine, I suspect that what you smell are all the plastics, glues, and other build components releasing chemical vapors and fumes that are still "hanging around" from the manufacturing process, and the hotter it gets, the more fumes it will give off (at least for a little while).

Consider as being the same thing as a "new car smell"

Ahh, don't you have a computery website of your own? You should know smoke isn't good.

As a side: tablets have been out that long? man has it been 2 years already? woosh

You originally stated it was brand new?
Two years old is NOT brand new.

And if you are serious about the smoke, well then of course something has gone horribly wrong.

Well I hope you didn't spend a lot on it, or you can return it, or its under warranty and you can get it fixed. Smoke is bad.

i'm willing to put up with the smell coming out of my tablet PC because i get such great framerates playing HL2 and Doom3 on it.
 
i know that when i got my new laptop it smelled kinda bad for a bit but now that i've had it for a while the smell went away.
 
No, I am now 100% convinced that YOU are the problem here.
Remove YOU from the equation, and everything should work fine.
 
I tend to agree with that accessment. ~¥~ßLÅÇK~ÇîrǵT~¥~ you need to improve the quality of your posts quickly or administrative steps will be taken to help you on your way.
