system in spec, I reached it with an xp-90 and a 92mm panaflo Ultra

how would i run prime95 to test my system and how long should i run it?

btw i put my voltage at 1.5v, is that too high? temps are from 44-49 idle, im expecting it to lower as the AS5 to set it (barely put in xp-90 today)

If it dosent throttle at all when you run prime, than you are all good.

I would get throttle watch and run it while running prime to see.

Happy 4Ghz. That should be plenty fast of a processor even if it is on the net burst architecture :p

yea i have prime95, but i dont know which option to pick in torture test.

Played some CS:Source right now, temps peaked at 55.

use the "In-place large FFTs (maximum heat, power consumption, some RAM tested)" option

4ghz dothan

congrats though man, 4ghz is hot ;)

LoL.. actually my p4 never breaks 55C.. idles at 41-44. Weird thing though... on the 3rd round of p95 it crashes.. but during the first 30 or so tests, no errors? runs fine when gaming constantly... my x800 is another thing... hits 61C when gaming with the case door on, off it hits 55c... even when not oced...

You may want to run the hdr lighting test in addition to prime as to stress the ht component as well. It 'll also give you a good idea of the heat a mad gaming session can produce. Here's a screenie...

yea, post above i did, it lasted about 2 hours and i turned it off since i went to sleep

that's when you actually leave it running .. when you go to sleep

You have no use for the computer .. so u let it run as much as long as it can

im used to it, but hes annoyed by it, and yes i can hear it sleeping in my room through 3 layers of doors/hallways/rooms

The better option for testing CPU's is the small FFT's - go to the run command line and type in "perfmon.msc" to pull up the performance monitor and check it out.

As someone else said, when you're testing you should run 2 instances of Prime95, since after all you have 2 CPU's (1 real, 1 virtual). If you only run 1 instance, you'll only max your CPU out at 50%. You can manually set which processor the instance uses by adding "-a00" or "-a01" after the shortcut's run path, making it look like:

"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -a00
and
"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -a01

Doing this will make sure your CPU is running at 100%.

well im trying to get a deal through selling my case for a case that uses 120mm fans

You might like an Antec SuperLANBoy case... they have 120mm fans, and other good stuff as well. I had one, and it seemed pretty good for a budget case. There are deals coming and going for them at $40.
