Hi All,

I currently am using a msi 965p platinum onboard optical out to connect to my lounge digital receiver. I have ac3 filter installed, it is a HTPC.

K in my other rig i have a creative audigy 2 zs soundcard with a digital out connector. I am considering getting the i/o module from creative so i can hook up via optical to get the better 5.1 sound for my receiver.

question if my movies or tv shows are 5.1 will i get 5.1?
is it worht it ?

Thanks

Easy

Well.. that's mostly true. If you are playing back something that is pre-encoded to 5.1 (like a DVD) and set your software to spdif passthrough, then the receiver will get a 5.1 digital signal. It's the stuff that is stereo in that doesn't get mixed into 5.1 (games, most downloaded video, music)

hmm, ok..

well ac3filter allows me to upconvert to 5.1, however most of my media is 5.1 ...

the cable is no good, as my receiver can recieve 5.1 either by optical or coax.. not rca.. for me rca = stereo only

Sorry. My bad I thought you wanted 5.1 in games. That requires the cable. Yes the I/O and a optical cable will do the trick.

on my old sb live i hooked up mini to stero rca to the flexi jack on it. i than hooked either the left or right rca (i dont remember what one i used) to the coax on my receiver. that passed through digital sound.
