I need someone's expert recommendation for a psu for my rig. The last psu (Rosewill 600w) I tried didn't seem like it could handle the job, because it kept shutting down after less than a minute of use. Other PSUs I have tried couldn't even boot my system (including a Silverstone Zeus 650w) Here's my setup:

Motherboard: Foxconn NF4SK8AA NVIDIA nForce4 SLI

Videocards: GeForce 6800 XT running in SLI

Memory: PQI 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 333 (PC 2700) - 1 stick

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SATA 3.0Gb/s

Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro

2 Optical drives (DVD and CD-RW)

Standard Floppy Drive

** The two videocards and the soundcard each require a direct connection to the PSU via a molex connector. Is this a problem? Are these components too power hungry?

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

jjfossey,,

If the 'Zeus" can't even power your system on, that tells me it's not a matter of a psu issue( unless something was amuck with the Silverstone) because your really not stressing out that unit.

I'm looking past the psu issue, makes me wonder if your shorting out, which it sounds to me like that could be a possibility from what you've described.

Good Luck

I'd go back to the Zeus. It should be able to run your system just fine, plenty of power.

The OP said the Zeus doesn't work for him either.

I don't think that it's the "Zeus" that doesn't work for him, I think it's something else. The Zeus should work fine.

Why does this directly relate to having to be a PSU problem? I read that part of his post.
