How do you set up F@H to do dumps, I've got a comp going offline in a bit and I would like to stack up some WU'S.

Any dumping help appreciated :)

If I'm understanding you correctly: If you want to get extra normal wus you can set up another folder or two or three with folding at home, and then run them once and let them download a new wu. Then you can have 2 F@H running and you'll be good for awhile. You can also just leave 1 going and have the other folder off until the 1st one finished.

The other option is two run timeless and have it que up 10 wu. Again you can have two+ folders and have each que up 10 wu. Timeless wus give less "points" then the normal wus in general - they are still important to science, but the normal route from above will give you more points if you really care about that. Both methods will work.

How many folders or wus to get before hand all depends on how long you'll be off of the net and how fast your computer gets through a normal wu.

The best way is to run timeless WU's. When you select timeless, it will ask you something about queueing up some WU's or whether you want to connect after every WU or not. After making the selection to queue up the WU's it should go and d/l ten of the buggers.

This is not a bad solution for AMDs since they run faster on the Tinkers. It's not the best solution for P4's unless you have no way of getting other WU's on there. I do not suggest loading up several clients with normal WU's since Stanford would like the work back as soon as it's done. I have done this before but that was a couple of years ago when I was stuck on dial up and before you could queue timeless.

I have two clients with timeless units on my dually PII with no internet connection. It works out great for me. I also have timeless queued up on my mom's system since the computer isn't on a whole lot and about the only time it gets to send WU's is when I go down there and manually do it.

One more thing. I know that older timeless units were lousy for points. There are new ones that are between 239 and 249 points that seem to get double the points over the old ones. There are still some of the old low point one out there, though. The second instance on my P4 at work is chewing through one now. The PPD for that instance has dropped to half of what it normally is.

I just think that its funny that a guy named clean_me is asking for help because he "need to dump".

What speed is your computer clean_me, and how long will it be off the internet?
