I just finished ym awsome system, but the problem is I bought a heatsink/fan for my CPU but I lost a pin thingy named the K8 Clip. I need this, and spent $60 bucks on this. My dad through the box out, where can I findthis clip? Any stores like bestbuy? Links?

Thanks Please This Is Urgent!!!!

Call local mom and pop computer shops. If you get lucky I'm sure one of them would be nice enough to give you one.

You'll probably need to buy a whole new Heatsink/Fan, since that clip probably isn't sold by itself anywhere. Good luck with that, and charge your dad if you do.

Look through the trash. Sorry, but you can't get em on thier own, and I would never jury-rig a cpu HSF.

which heatsink did you buy? i have a few things laying around, maybe i can help.

What hs/f is it?

Have you tried to call the makers of it? They are usually pretty good at helping people out with things like that. I broke the fan clip on my Thermalright SI-97 trying to get it on there and I just called Thermalright up and told them that I was dumb and broke it and they sent me a new one for free.

Alright I am going to compusaand seeing if thy'll give me one for free.. Otherwise I'll call AeroCool.. I bought an AeroCool Socket 745 Fan/Heatsink!

You know the casing for your motherboard.. The silver bracket that goes over all the plugs.. where you plug you shit into? Well I installed my board and forgot to add that.. Can I add it without taking it all out????? Plz I reallly can't afford to take it out! It was a real pain in the asscrack!

if you mean the backplate for the I/O ports then yes you pretty much have to take the board out to install it

Maybe you can tape it? lol

I highly doubt it. they only go in one way, there's not any room left once the motherboard is screwed to the case. You can probably unscrew the motherboard, move it back, and put the bracket in that way without removing everything, unless you've got a tiny case or something.

you know I did the same thing and I just left it off not sure if it hurts anything... just make sure you blow out dust regularly

not sure if it's been causeing any cooling issue... sig at bottom gets not much hotter then 55 when gaming at nomal whether temps

Bingo! I did the same things once, forgetting the I/O plate, and that is what I did....unscrewed the mobo, slid it back not even a 1/4" and put the I/O plate in and slid the mobo back and screwed it back down. That is the only thing you can do without taking everything out. Unless you can just spot weld the I/O plate to the BACK of the case from the outside, but that is a little extreme.

I'll have to remember that just in case sence my hsf if a thermal.. oh wait it's a thermaltake not thermalright anyway sounds like a good company

Do you know what screws I should take out?? Like the top one? The one on the left??

First are you talking about one of these:
ioshield7ew.jpg

and if so....just remove ALL of your mobo screws and slide it back, install the i/o shield and then slide the mobo back so where you can put the screws in, if you can't do that, then you are going to have to take everything out.

If you are talking about one of these than you can get it at the link, but I would check with the HS/F maker to see if they will send you one for free. It never hurts to ask, unless you ask for a beating. ;)

The thing is.. the K8 Clip is a silver peice.. that goes in the AeroCool HT-101 .. I don't know if that will work also.. I'll check.. I called them and they send they will send me one only if I show them a proof of purchase but I can't send the receipt.. I dont have a fax!

swirly - I merged your two "I need this clip" threads. One thread per subject, please....

Thanks - B.B.S.

scan it and send it in an email.

OR

Go to Kinkos, it will cost no more than a buck fifty to fax it.

Also, why were you wanting to see if you could install the I/O shield without taking everything out, when you HAVE to take everything out to put the backplate retention clip on?

Take a deep breath and just start over again.

I am going to call a technician for 98 bucks to come fix my pc up.. Will they prganize my PSU wires and stuff? So it is all neat and stuff and working?

For 98 dollars they had better make it work, but the cable organization is up to you. Unless you pay him/her more.

wow swirly your are werid and like skizafrantic <sorry for spelling>, outbursts. just settle down and think...and stop yelling.

i actually put a i/o shield on once w/o having to move the mobo. it used a press-fit method... although we're talking about a 7-8 year old ramtek board, lol.

and synergy...? it's spelled schizophrenic ;)

I was never yelling.. Go outside please and let the adults talk! =)

the outbursts do make you seem a little loopy...

and not to nit pick but your second post had some yelling.

neither is a terrible thing, just a little... unusual ;)

ummm... touching... but really, really wierd.

i'm male.

are you sure you don't want to edit your post ;)

Lol.. I am just trying to prove how off topic this post has become.. Therefore i spoke very randomly and said I love you.

Hey you are the kid that told me to push the voltage on the back of my power supply and fry it.... LOL!!!!

 hah... that was just good fun taunting a *very* obvious n00b that was (at the time) starting to get on my nerves.

you're showing that you've learned since then-- you're not a n00b anymore, so why treat you like one?

Lol I did not do it, well can you give me feedback on my other post.. It is like 4 spaces down.. Thanks!

---- I see you edited your post.
